The 2024 Thudong Bhikkhus from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia have arrived in Jambi on Friday 24 May 2024 and will carry out various series of activities to celebrate the Tri Suci Vesak 2568 BE/2024 at Muaro Jambi Temple.
Another activity is the implementation of the Joint Vesak and Almsgiving in Jambi City, which will be enlivened by a parade of decorated cars.
On this occasion, the Governor of Jambi Al Haris will launch a parade with a route starting from the official residence of the Governor of Jambi to the Sakyakirti Vihara, Amithaba Vihara Simpang, Hong Kong Market, Vimuttara Vihara, Puncak Simpang, and ending at the Amrta Vihara.
Jambi Province Buddhist Community Figure, Father Jampa Wongchai said that the Thudong Bhikkhus will also carry out a Joint Waisak and Almsgiving in Jambi City. The Thudong Bhikkhus who come from various countries will carry out a Joint Waisak and Almsgiving in Jambi City, which will be enlivened by a parade of floats.
According to him, this activity is an opportunity for Buddhists in the Jambi City area and its surroundings to channel funds to the Thudong monks.
“This is Bhikkhu Thudong's first year in Jambi. Hopefully next year it can come again. "This is an opportunity for Buddhists to provide kindness to the monks," he explained.
Apart from religious celebrations, this activity is also to strengthen relations between religious communities and introduce Buddhist culture and traditions to the people of Jambi. It is hoped that the event will be a valuable moment for all Buddhists in Jambi.
